The sports centre shell and fit out contract was completed in fourteen months.
The structure is built on bored piles with a reinforced concrete frame to form a complex arrangement of curved external feature walls and semi-circular building envelope. The external cladding to the structure consists of high performance glazing panels constructed between glass reinforced fascia panels and tapering column cladding in-filled at different levels with teak panelling. The roof structure comprises curved roof trusses from each column location, supported at a central point near the entrance of the building by a large steel ring.
The fitting out of the building is in keeping with the external features and a combination of high quality joinery works and a wide range of floor and wall finishes create an impressive internal appearance.
