The conference centre shell and core was built in just twelve months, designed in the shape of a Dhow, the traditional sailing boat of the Gulf.
An impressive structure, the upper half of the building is clad in teak with high performance glazing panels on the lower sections. The front and rear sections are clad in glass reinforced plastic panels to resemble bow and rudder. A standing seam roofing system curves in two directions, in keeping with the shape of the building.
Fitting out involved a vast array of floor, wall and ceiling finishes to meet the different requirements for ballrooms, theatres, conference rooms and services areas within the centre.
